Sw Florida seems to be in a unique position when it comes to the building industry. As a smaller builder building around 20 houses a year my phones and inquiries have not slowed down. Yes I was a bit surprised my phones were actually more busy than usual. I thought the drop in the stock market and coronovirus would scare people but it actually did the opposite.
Calls are coming in from all over the country mostly from second home buyers who do not want to wait anymore and people in large cities looking to get out. Florida did not shut down the construction industry and houses I have in production have not seen a real delay in the building process. What I did see a slow down in is the time for engineers/architects to finish plans and banks to do a construction loan. Interest rates are low right now so even though stock accounts have been reduced my clients are using the banks money to buy more home. On the building side most of my houses are taking a average of 7-9 months to build when we get the permit.
